iki COFFEE PARTNER: Wakura Café

  • I asked Teru to help me with café project. Drink and food is of course important, however, it was Teru`s expert knowledge, passion and personality that impressed me the most.

    Wakura Café Owner Hiroyuki Kobayashi:

I first encountered iki Espresso at the Cafe and Bakery Show at Tokyo Big Sight event centre. The café latte I was offered by Teru Harase at the iki Espresso booth was the best coffee I had ever tasted. Until then, I didn`t know that there was such a difference in coffee taste

At the time I met Teru, I had a Maruman kimono shop in Tochigi. It`s rare to combine a café with a kimono shop.
Kimonos are expensive and traditionally customers are mature. I wanted to offer more than kimonos to provide a better service and attract a younger generation.

  • While I am experienced in selling kimonos, my knowledge of the café business was non-existent. Where do I begin, how do I make a menu, – I really didn`t know.

I asked Teru to help me with café project. Drink and food is of course important, however, it was Teru`s expert knowledge, passion and personality that impressed me the most.

Teru and the iki team provided full support with the café concept, including interior design, menu creation, all café equipment and staff training.
Thank you so much for your commitment to everything related to my café project.

Wakura Café has now been open for four months, and we have many happy customers. I realize that Wakura is becoming a hot spot in the local area.

Looking back, I really feel that it was the right decision to partner with iki Espresso.

I`m looking forward to a long continued relationship with Teru and iki.
